Madi A Thavha
Madi a Thavha is well-known for our central location in Limpopo, our focus on culture and our luxury, rural-hip interiors. The accommodation consists of three Guest suites and five Guest rooms with a central pool & lapaadjacent to the Farmhouse. The reception, our CraftArt shop and dining room is in the Farmhouse where we serve scrumptious home-cooded food on prior order.
Our Dancing Fish gallery is like a live-in cultural heritage gallery and embraces Madi a Thavha Textile & Design studio, all the CraftArt displayed in the rooms and gardens and the Cultural Heritage centre. Here the colourful stories of the region are presented on huge wall panels with ancient beadwork, traditional music instruments and ceramic artifacts on display. A permanent exhibition of contemporary Limpopo CraftArt decorate the veranda.
Madi a Thavha facilitates a variety of guided village tours, and can add creative activities and cultural performancesat the lodge or on tour. Hiking, cycling and birding can be done practically from your room or suite’s doorstep too.

Five cheerful, luxury Guest rooms with exceptional Venda, Tsonga and Northern Sotho art and craft. All rooms are close to lodge’s restaurant, pool and amenities.

Our three luxury Guest suites each has its own special character and beauty inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the peoples of northern Limpopo. All suites have fireplaces, fully equipped kitchens with verandas and a braai.
Lodge facilities
Madi a Thavha has a warm homey feel. Lodging guests are welcome to use and visit all lodge facilities. Reception is in the Farmhouse with its cozy lounge, fireplace, DSTV and Wi-Fi, a dining room with an adjacent terrace and an open plan kitchen. Our chefs serve delicious home-made food’.

All rooms and suites are a quick and easy walk to the Farmhouse and facilities: the Dancing Fish gallery embraces all the art & craft, culture & heritage being exhibited in and around our lodge. The office, shop, lounge and dining room is in the Farmhouse with the pool & lapaadjacent.

In the Cultural Heritage centre, the history of the region is told in huge and colourful story-line panels. Those interested in anthropology, music and history will find it well worth a visit.

Exceptional contemporary local art exhibited on the front gallery of the centre – with the opportunity to personally meet some of the artists in their own studios on our rural village tours in northern Limpopo.

Pop in to see what we are up to in our Textile & Design studio where most of the lodge’s soft furnishings are made. We often have training courses or workshops here.

Hiking, cycling and birding can be done practically from your doorstep. We can also facilitatesimilar excursions outside the lodge. Our pool is solar heated even if our winters are on average quite mild. Madi a Thavha is one of only a handful lodges in Southern Africa that offers authentic, guided lifestyle rural village tours popular amongst photographers and international guests. We offer various fun and creative activities for adults and children at Madi a Thavha, in nature or while on tour.
